Regent Bridge

The Regents Bridge (part of Waterloo Place), built around 1819 so people in the New Town could have access to Calton Hill, overlooks Calton Road. It is another of Edinburgh's virtually enclosed bridges/viaducts.

Flodden Wall

The path of the wall leads up to a small street called Bristo Port, which was where one of the ports (entrances) was at this part of town.

The first photograph looks down Old Fishmarket Close towards the Argyle Brewery in the Cowgate. In the background further up can be seen the roof of the Royal Museum in Chambers Street. The colour photograph is the same scene today.

A factory in Potterrow which became Edinburgh's mosque. The building behind it dates from the 17th century.

Predator Vs Alien

These sculptures were built entirely from the parts of motorbikes and were on sale at the Scottish Motorbike Show 2009 for £4000 each.

Hang 'em High

This St Andrew Cross in the Grassmarket, at the bottom of the West Bow, marks the spot of public executions in Edinburgh.

Forrest Road

Above is Forrest Road today and below is the same street some time in the 1950s/1960s.

Royal High School

Now part of Edinburgh University, this 18th century building was once the Royal High School before it moved to Regent Road.

North College Street/Chambers Street

The top picture (as noted) is the old North College Street, which is now Chambers Street, though North College Street was considerably narrower, barely half the width of Chambers Street.
